Mesoscopic physics is a branch of condensed matter physics. The word "mesoscopic" means something bigger than microscopic like an atom but smaller than macroscopic like an apple. Understanding the laws of matter at the mesoscopic length scales is the main objective of our research.
   

We study quantum effects in semiconductors and metals of sub-micrometer size in order to predict electronic, magnetic, and mechanical properties of such small systems. Our theory contributes to the emerging field of quantum nanoelectronics. The long-term goal of the field is the development of extremely effective and ultimately small electronic devices which favorably use the laws of quantum mechanics.
